Finding
My Way

A Vermonter is saved more than once by her dowsing skills in this memoir of loss, love, and life.  From rural beginnings where she attended a one-room school and helped with the haying on her family’s dairy farm to Boston’s fevered embrace of Women’s liberation and communal living to the Back to the Land Movement in Vermont, she is propelled forward with the help of synchronicity—the idea that occurrences in time and space can be more than a coincidence—and her sixth sense.  Woven throughout her journey is her role as a mother.

The Gift of Dowsing

Discovering the ancient art of water dowsing at age eleven, a skill that would later serve as a literal and spiritual guide through life's unexpected turns.

The Memoir

Meet Sarah

Sarah Houston's life has been a journey of curiosity and discovery. Growing up on a dairy farm in rural Vermont, she attended a one-room schoolhouse and learned the rhythmic toil of farm life. Her career as a reporter for the Worcester Telegram and Gazette and The Boston Herald led her through the fevered beginnings of the women's liberation movement and communal living, before drawing her back to her Vermont roots.

A lifelong dowsing practitioner, Sarah discovered her ability to find water with a forked stick at age eleven. This intuitive sense, coupled with a passion for storytelling that began with a childhood contest win in The Country Gentleman, has defined her professional and personal path. Today, she shares this rich history through her memoir, 'Finding My Way,' weaving together themes of loss, love, and the hero’s journey that we all make.
